The control unit is to the frame (or armrest) using a stretch-on strap that accommodates a large range of sizes. It has 3 speed settings – 2 km/h (1.2mph), 4 km/h (2.4mph) and 6 km/h (4mph). The 250w brushless motor and a lithium battery are powerful enough to propel a user of up to 100Kgs. Replaceable components are readily available in the UK such as new battery packs and controllers, or spare ChampDriver attachment clamps, which is perfect for if you want to be able to use the ChampDriver to more than one wheelchair.
As a power attachment, the ChampDriver is a very compact and portable device weighing only 6.8kgs that is more easily affordable than products like the SmarDriveMX2+ that originally conceived this product-category and are supplied by Permobil.
We have supplied a few of these products already to our customers in our local East Midlands area, and fitted them in our workshop here in Loughborough, and we have not had any bad feedback from them. We are able to courier them to you directly at home for you to fit yourself if you prefer, and we are able to offer videocall support if desired to assist with the fitting.
